Overview

The RIGOL RSA800-PNOISE is a dedicated Phase Noise Measurement application software designed to expand the capabilities of the RSA800 Series Real-Time Spectrum Analyzers. This software option enables engineers to accurately quantify the spectral purity of RF signal sources, making it an essential tool for evaluating oscillators, phase-locked loops (PLLs), and clock synthesizers in both R&D and production testing.

By leveraging the excellent inherent phase noise performance of the RSA800 hardware platform , the RSA800-PNOISE software transforms the spectrum analyzer into a specialized phase noise tester. It automates the complex measurement process, providing users with a clear, actionable view of signal stability across various frequency offsets.

High-Performance Hardware Foundation

The software takes full advantage of the analyzer's exceptionally low noise floor and good phase noise performance. For a 1 GHz carrier at a 10 kHz offset, the hardware achieves <-110 dBc/Hz, with a typical performance of <-112 dBc/Hz, ensuring that your measurements reflect the Device Under Test (DUT) rather than the instrument itself.

Comprehensive Offset Range

Perform thorough characterizations across a wide sweep of carrier offsets. The software accurately tracks Single Sideband (SSB) Phase Noise at critical decade intervals, including 1 kHz, 10 kHz, 100 kHz, 1 MHz, and 10 MHz offsets.

Automated Measurement Workflow

Replaces tedious manual marker measurements with an automated phase noise evaluation routine. This streamlines testing procedures, drastically reducing setup time and minimizing user errors when assessing RF signal integrity.
